Omaha Martial Arts Instruction: Who is important and Why?

Omaha Martial Arts Instruction: Who is important and Why?

QUICK NOTES … The head instructor of any martial arts school sets the curriculum and “the feel” of the facility. Before starting a class, it is important to do your research on their credentials and history. It is important that you are learning from a legitimate instructor with the background and knowledge of the the art being taught. Once you are satisfied that the instruction is up to standards at the school you want to learn from take the time to meet the instructors and teaching staff before starting. A great way is through a free class.

At Omaha Blue Waves Martial Arts our head instructor is Grandmaster Jeffrey Helaney. He has been a fixture in the martial arts since 1969. He holds the highest rank awarded in Traditional TaeKwon-Do (a 9th Degree Black) and holds belts in several other arts. A quick internet search of GM Helaney will tell you a story that few other instructors in the country or the world can match.

GM Helaney is the president of the United States Kido Federation, an association that works towards the preservation and promotion of Korean heritage arts as the continue to grow and develop in the US. He is on the advisory boards of the International TaeKwon-Do Federation, the International Jun Tong TaeKwon-Do Federation, and the World TaeSool Association.

In the last few years, he has been recognized by Official TaeKwon-Do Hall of Fame in 2022 for Outstanding Leadership, by ITF Australia’s General Choi, Hong Hi Awards for Grandmaster of the Year, and named a “Legend” by Who’s Who in the Martial Arts. He has, also, been inducted into the Budo Magazine Hall of Fame, received awards and letters of commendations from educational institutions and government officials.
