The skills they learn in the dojang can last a lifetime. Parent’s often comment that they notice changes at both home and school after just a few months.

DOES YOUR CHILD GET EASILY BORED?

Learning TaeKwon-Do helps children develop both long term and short term goals such as earning earning new belts. Young children often become frustrated when they don’t get what they want right away, but studying TaeKwon-Do they learn perseverance

The ‘martial play’ exercises in the Tiny Tiger classes helps kids manage stress and anxiety by allowing them to work it off in a safe and productive manner.

TaeKwon-Do is a Korean martial art that began its formation shortly after WWII in Seoul, Korea. In 1945 a number of Kwans (or Gyms) began teaching hybrid martial arts that were influenced by all but lost indigenous Korean arts, as well as, Chinese and Japanese styles. It wasn’t until 1957 that these styles began to become known as TaeKwon-Do (foot, fist, way) at the urging of General Choi, Hong Hi (the father of TaeKwon-Do).

TaeKwon-Do initially formalized under the Korean TaeKwon-Do Association and in 1966 under the International TaeKwon-Do Federation. In the 1973 political issues split the art with creation of the World Taekwondo Federation (later know as simply World Taekwondo). Unlike many ‘sports’ TaeKwon-Do has its own ethical code of ethics that include both tenets and a student oathTaeKwon-Do is the most widely practiced martial art in the world today.

At Omaha Blue Waves Martial Arts we teach traditional TaeKwon-Do, the same style which was originally formalized in 1957. We maintain affiliations with the United States Kido Federation, the International TaeKwon-Do Federation, the International Jung Tong TaeKwon-Do Federation, and the World TaeSool Federation.
